Dr Sothi Rachagan is a Professor and immediate past Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Malaya, Malaysia. He has published widely on a range of topics including human rights, consumer law. environmental law and access to justice.

    His involvement in consumer redress matters has been long standing - he drafted the Malaysian Consumer Protection Act 1999 which provided for the Consumer Redress Tribunal, campaigned for the now established Small Claims Procedure and the Banking Mediation Bureau and served as Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Insurance Mediation Bureau in Malaysia. He also serves on the Disciplinary Committee of the Malaysian Legal Profession.

    Professor Sothi Rachagan is the Deputy President of the International Association for Consumer Law.
